Faceswap APIs - Akool vs. Open Source

Hi all,

Our marketing team is searching for a reliable Face Swap API for some upcoming ad campaigns. We’re looking for a solution that can handle scale and is user-friendly, without requiring too much technical expertise.

We’ve been exploring a few options like Akool and Deepswap, but we’re also open to considering some open-source models, provided their APIs are easy to use.

For those who have experience with these APIs, how do they compare in terms of:

  • Accuracy: How realistic do the face swaps look?
  • Speed: We need to process a few dozen swaps at a time.
  • Ease of Integration: It should be straightforward for our design and ad teams to implement.

Additionally, if you’ve used any open-source models that you believe could match or even surpass these options, we’d love to hear about them! Any feedback, tips, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Commercial solutions are in general better than open source ones

Not good enough to be made into a an api yet I think. I only use direct LLMs. Could make this into an api for you , how much would you be willing to spend on this?

Tried some open source solutions, hard to use, and bad results.

Is there any cheap options?

I’ve used Akool and it‘s really good

Thanks will try it out then

True. If open source was the ideal solution, there wouldn’t be teams of Ivy League engineers working around the clock to push the envelope. It’s frustrating to see these comparisons—it’s like trying to compare fast food to a fine dining restaurant. You get what you pay for, and we all know that open-source options often fall short unless there’s a significant investment in coding and development.
